Participants enjoy The Nest experience

Foundation’s programmes try out new 11-a-side grass pitches

The pristine new grass on the main pitch at The Nest was given its first outing last week, when representative sides from the Foundation’s Street Life Soccer and the adult pan-disability programmes met for an 11-a-side friendly.

The players were among the first to try the state-of-the-art playing surface, which aims to replicate the standards that the first-team are used to at Colney.

A good-natured encounter with plenty of goals, saw the Street Life Soccer team emerge victorious.

David Shade, who heads up the Foundation’s Street Life Soccer programme, was delighted with the feedback from the fixture:

“Being able to give these guys experiences like this is great. It’s a wonderful perk for participants who have worked so hard.

“There are so few high-quality grass pitches accessible in Norfolk, and to have some at our disposal is fantastic.”

Both programmes will benefit extensively from the new community hub, and will be able to continue using the site’s facilities going forward.
