Norwich City Community Sports Foundation would like to welcome Stephen Balmer-Walters, who has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors for its community hub, The Nest.

Stephen’s Canary connections go back a few years to his time as Head of Retail & E-commerce and later as Head of Community Engagement with Norwich City Football Club.

During that time, between 2013-2017, Stephen worked on projects such as the transformation of Canary retail stores, the annual launch of new first team kits, and the first fully responsive website in the EFL/Premier League.

Stephen is the Founder and Director of AskStephen LTD, where he uses his wealth of knowledge and expertise to advise a wide range of businesses and individuals to help them ‘be better tomorrow than they are today’. This is achieved by using the eight pillars and four cornerstones on which to build future growth: structure, purpose, wellbeing and positive energy.

This work has included successfully launching a number of US sports brands into the UK market as well as supporting local and national businesses and individuals overcome the challenges of COVID-19.

Speaking about The Nest, Stephen said:

A space has been created where people can find themselves, where people can be themselves, and where people can feel included.

The wonderful new building, which will soon be open to the public has all the important considerations around architecture, light and air, which are so important to make it an environment where people will feel comfortable.

On what he hopes to bring to The Nest with his appointment, Stephen said:

I want to help add to the sense of community that The Nest already has, while from a commercial perspective offering my experience to help make the facility as successful as possible so that we can sustain the vital work that will take place there.

I want The Nest to be for everybody; we want everybody to feel like it’s their Nest.

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Ian Thornton said:

We know Stephen well from his time with the Football Club and we know he understands the vision we have for The Nest and the Foundation.

We are currently working to develop our team of directors at The Nest even further; Stephen’s energy to make things successful fits right in with the people we already have here so far, and we’re grateful that he has agreed to join the team.
